The National Executives of the Vehicle and Assets Dealers Union of Ghana (VADUG), wish
to register and express our concerns on the prevailing issues of alleged “Stolen Vehicle” Sales in the country. As direct stakeholders of the sector, we deem it a national duty to express our desired collaboration in finding lasting solutions to this unfortunate situation.
The practice is of concern to us not only as Dealers, but citizens whose interest is to ensure that this adversity does not have a consequential effect on the country’s image and also the fear, pan,i,c- an. d disaffection it has caused the Second-hand automobile industry.
As a Union, we always are in favour of best practices and ensure that our members follow the right procedures in the acquisition, transportation and the disposal of the vehicles.
We want to state emphatically that we disassociate ourselves from any person or Garage who is labelled as a “C’ ar dealer• or found culpable ·of this globa.l.’ rrienace. We assure the anti graft and investigative agencies of our outmost support to crackdown and bring this illicit trade within our jurisdiction to an end.
We entreat the various agencies tasked with oversight responsibilities at our port of entry and our landed boarders to act with extreme professionalism to ensure that such illegality becomes a thing of the past.
As Executives we are teedy for a national collaboration end enhanced inter agency consultation to educate end Inform the general public on procedures and best practices in the automobile market and Its operations.
